About Citizens Advice Lewisham
The charity Lewisham Citizens Advice Bureau is a member of the national Citizens Advice (CitA) body. They have been supporting the London borough of Lewisham by delivering free, impartial and confidential advice to those who live, work or study in the borough.
Some of the incredible work they do includes:
* Providing advice to some of the most vulnerable groups in the area
* Help to gain access to justice
* Prevent homelessness
* Tackle discrimination
* Resolve debt problems, and maximise incomes
* Supporting refugees
* Tackling illegal money lending
* Compiling evidence on domestic violence
They are looking for applicants from a wide range of backgrounds including but not restricted to:
– advice services
– local government
– the wider charity sector or the corporate sector
They are looking for 3-4 new Trustees to join their dynamic board.
As Vice Chair of the charity, you’ll be helping to make decisions about how they ensure they work they do respond to the needs of local communities, is always of the highest quality, and the charity’s governance is effective. You will play an important role supporting the Chair to lead the trustee board and perform a leading role in the governance committee.
As a Trustee you would need to be able to make a significant commitment to Citizens Advice Lewisham and devote the necessary time; have strategic vision, independent judgement, an ability to think creatively, a willingness to speak your mind and a commitment to enable the leadership team to thrive and excel.
