Inclusive Boards are delighted to be working with The British Red Cross as they seek to recruit a new trustee. The Red Cross are looking for someone with experience and knowledge of communications and marketing, including brand awareness and promotion. The ideal candidate will possess experience of strategic communications in the commercial context, preferably with some knowledge of the public or voluntary sector.
The board values diversity and is committed to ensuring it is representative of the communities it serves. They are particularly keen to receive applications from communities currently under-represented within its governance bodies, including those from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds.
Candidates should demonstrate:
• a commitment to the Fundamental Principles, vision, mission and values of the British Red Cross and the wider international Movement
• an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
• a commitment to the seven principles of public life – selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.
The successful candidate will join a Board of thirteen trustees that meets four times a year. Trustees are also members of advisory groups and committees. The average time commitment is approximately 10 days a year. Trustees can serve up to two terms of four years each, subject to a review by the chair at the end of the first term.
The role is voluntary, but reasonable travel and incidental expenses are reimbursed in line with the organisation’s expenses policy. Trustees receive ongoing support to enable them to fulfill their duties. The new member will join the Board of Trustees on 1 January 2018.
