In partnership with the National Police Chiefs' Council and College of Policing, the Independent Scrutiny & Oversight Board was devised to deliver police leaders’ commitment to robust external oversight to shape, check and challenge a new Plan of Action on Inclusion and Race. This developing plan aims to build a more inclusive police service, and address negative disparities for Black people interacting with, or working in, policing.

We are seeking six board members that will fearlessly advocate for the interests of Black people, while working collaboratively to develop policing that wins our trust and delivers on public protection. The roles are as follows: 

  • Board member for Use of Powers
  • Board member for Internal Culture & Inclusivity
  • Board member for Community Relations, Engagement and Perceptions of Policing
  • Board member for Protection
  • Board member for Change Management
  • Board member for Data/Evidence Analyst

The ideal candidate will have a credible track record and passion for championing and advocating on issues of inclusion and race; be motivated by public service and a desire to bring about genuine, positive change and will possess the ability to think strategically and to challenge constructively.
