PSG was formed on 1 November 2017 from the merger of two charities (Choice Support and mcch) through the creation of PSG, as a holding company for both organisations. Both organisations are social care providers that work to support adults with learning disabilities and autism; mcch also supports people with mental health needs. Choice Support works across much of England, mcch works in the south east. The organisations came together because of the increasingly challenging social care market and the need to reduce back-office costs, but also because there was a natural synergy between them, with shared values and complementary areas of expertise. To date, the merger has progressed well, with significant savings realised. However, much work remains to be done and the challenges of the social care sector have not lessened.
