You need to be willing to make decisions on your own and as part of a panel, working collaboratively with panel colleagues and support Staff.
You will be appointed as an Independent Parole Board Member for a 5-year fixed term appointment. You will work a minimum of 184 days a year (the equivalent of 4 days a week) Outside of training dates, you can choose your working pattern. Following a 5-day induction from 5th February 2024, you will provide an additional 16 days for training and development.

There may still be some travel required to attend oral hearings held during the working day in His Majesty’s Prison (HMP) establishments across England and Wales, and very occasionally in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Parole Board members reflect society at large in its diversity, although we wish to continue to increase the diversity of the Parole Board membership and welcome applications from people from all backgrounds.
When in training, you will receive £250 per day and when undertaking casework responsibility fees range between £320 and £365 per day, depending on the type of work undertaken.
The role is expected to start in the week commencing the 5th of February 2024.
The closing date for applications: 22 October 2023. This is a rolling campaign, and applicants are encouraged to submit their applications at the earliest opportunity rather than waiting for the closing date. Applications will be accepted up until the end date.
